How to Create a Project (GS 3.1)
Opening a New Project
Double-click on the STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32 icon or choose SIMATIC>STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32 from the Start menu in order to launch the application. A new STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32 project opens.
Opening an Existing Project
From inside STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32, use the File menu and select one of the following options:
·Open—Allows you to navigate to an existing project and open it.
·File name—If you have recently worked in a project, it is listed under the File menu and you can select it directly, without using the Open dialog box.
You can also use the Windows Explorer to navigate to the appropriate directory and open your project without having to launch STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32 as a separate, previous step. In STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32, version 3.0 or above, your project is contained in a single file with an .mwp extension.
Tip: Once you have opened a project, you can begin to write your program. You may want to perform one or more of the tasks listed below before you begin:
·Range-Check by PLC Type
You can select a PLC type before you write your program, in order to have STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32 check the range of your parameters. (If you have specified a PLC type for your project, the Instruction Tree shows any instructions that are not valid for your PLC with a red x: )
·Set Up Communications
You can set up communications now, or wait until you are ready to download a program.
·Customize Your Workspace
You can customize your workspace in a variety of ways if desired.
