How to Upload from a PLC (GS 8.3)

You can use toolbar buttons or the File menu to upload your program from the PLC to the personal computer where you are running STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32.

Uploading a Single Block or All Three

You can upload the Program Block (OB1, subroutines, and interrupt routines), System Block, and Data Block; alternatively, you can upload just one of those three blocks. The PLC does not contain symbol or status chart information; hence, you cannot upload a Symbol Table or Status Chart. (See Project Components and How They Work for more information.)

Uploading into a New, Empty Project

This is a risk-free way to capture the program block, system block, and/or data block information. Since the project is empty, you cannot inadvertently destroy data. If you want to make use of material from the status chart or symbol table that were created for this project, you can always open a second instance of STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32 and copy that information in from the other project file. (See How to Copy Program Segments for more information.)

Uploading into an Existing Project

This is a good idea if you want to overwrite all modifications that have been made to the program since it was downloaded to the PLC.

It is a bad idea if you need to keep any modifications that you made to the program block, system block, and/or data block after downloading to the PLC, since uploading overwrites these blocks.

Procedure:

1.Open a project in STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32 to hold the blocks that you are going to upload from the PLC.
* If you want to upload into an empty project, choose File>New or use the New Project toolbar button.
* If you want to upload into an existing project, choose File>Open or use the Open Project toolbar button.

2.Choose File>Upload or use the Upload toolbar button to initiate the upload process.

3.The Upload box displays checkboxes for the program block, data block, and system block. Ensure that the checkboxes are selected for the blocks that you want to upload and deselected for any blocks that you do not want to upload, and then click on the "OK" button.

4.STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32 displays the following warning:

Click the "Yes" button.

STEP 7-Micro/WIN 32 displays a message when your blocks upload successfully from the PLC to your personal computer.
